PISA, not just the leaning tower…….



In the Piazza del Duomo, also known as Piazza dei Miracoli, there are the greatest examples of Romanesque Pisan. The square and is amongst the most famous and visited monuments in Italian art. On the square stand the Cathedral, the Baptistery, the Campanile, better known as the Tower of Pisa and Leaning Tower, and the Cemetery. Although built at different times of the four buildings have chromatic homogeneity and an admirable stylistic architectural unity.

 

 

The Leaning Tower is definitely the symbol of the city of Pisa, but also an internationally recognized symbol of  whole of Italy.

 

The church of S. Maria della Spina is one of the finest examples of Gothic architecture in Europe.

Its beauty is not blurred by the splendor of the most famous Square of Miracles ....

 

 

Piazza dei Cavalieri in Pisa, is, after Piazza del Duomo, the most famous square of the city.

In ancient times represented the center of the civil power (compared to the religious which was located in Piazza del Duomo)

 

 

The Luminara of Saint Ranieri is a town festival that takes place in Pisa in the evening of June 16 of each year, on the eve of San Ranieri, the patron saint of the city.
